Harris County Deputy, Firefighter Injured in Crash with 18-Wheeler
An 18-wheeler and an Aldine Fire Department truck collided at Aldine Bender and West Hardy roads Tuesday, sending a Harris County deputy and a firefighter to the hospital.

An 18-wheeler barreling southbound on West Hardy Road slammed into an Aldine Fire Department firetruck crossing the intersection at Aldine Bender Road around 3 p.m. Tuesday, triggering a chain-reaction crash that hospitalized a Harris County Sheriff's Office deputy and, according to FOX26, a firefighter as well.
The Aldine fire truck was traveling westbound on Aldine Bender with its lights and sirens activated when it entered the intersection and was struck by the 18-wheeler. The force of that collision pushed the vehicles into a minivan and an HCSO patrol Explorer that was stopped in the eastbound lanes waiting to make a left turn, according to officials.
The deputy was transported by EMS to a nearby hospital and is expected to be OK, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. FOX26 reported that both the deputy and the firefighter sustained non-life-threatening injuries, though KPRC and ABC13 confirmed only the deputy's hospitalization. KHOU noted it was unclear whether anyone else had been transported.
Scene footage shared by Grizzy's Hood News showed the driver of the 18-wheeler in handcuffs following the crash. Whether any charges have been filed remains unclear, and HCSO has not released the identities of the injured deputy or firefighter.
Multiple emergency crews remained at the scene as investigators worked to piece together the sequence of events. Officials said all factors contributing to the crash were still under investigation.
