Harris County investigates Klein High coach over Tomball misconduct allegations
Harris County detectives are probing Nick Codutti over alleged misconduct tied to his Tomball ISD years, while Klein ISD has pulled the Klein High coach off campus.

Harris County sheriff’s investigators are examining allegations that Klein High School football coach Nick Codutti had an inappropriate relationship with a female student during his time at Tomball High School, putting two local school districts under scrutiny as the case moves through law enforcement and child welfare review.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit is leading the investigation. Tomball ISD told families and staff in a letter Monday, May 12, 2026, that Codutti was being investigated for “allegations of misconduct that date back to his employment in Tomball ISD.” District officials said the matter came to them through information from a law-enforcement or external agency.
According to the reporting, the alleged relationship involved a student who attended Tomball High School from 2016 to 2020, while Codutti worked there from 2017 through 2021. At Tomball, he served as offensive coordinator and strength and recruiting coordinator before later moving on to bigger jobs in Texas high school football.

Klein ISD hired Codutti as head football coach in January 2025. After the investigation came to light, the district asked him to step away from campus and placed him on administrative leave while law enforcement and Child Protective Services reviewed the allegations. No criminal charges had been announced.
The timeline is central to the public concern now facing both districts. Tomball ISD is reviewing allegations connected to an employee who left years ago, while Klein ISD is dealing with the fallout of having hired him into one of the most visible roles on campus. For parents, the case is forcing attention on how school systems screen coaches, respond when concerns surface, and share information when an employee moves between districts.

Codutti’s football résumé has also drawn attention. Before arriving in Klein, he coached at Fulshear High School, where he compiled a 39-10 record over four seasons and won three district championships. That success helped make him a prominent hire in the Houston-area football scene, which is why the investigation has landed so heavily in Harris County.
For now, the case remains active, with detectives continuing to gather statements and records. The outcome could affect Codutti’s job, but it also has broader consequences for trust in school athletics, student safety protocols and the accountability systems meant to catch warning signs before they cross district lines.
