Harris County Man Threatens Woman With Machete Near School Zone
A man pulled a machete on a woman who slowed for a school zone near Grant Road and Hwy. 249, threatening to cut her head off before following her vehicle.

A male driver pulled a machete from the back seat of his pickup truck and threatened to cut a woman's head off after she slowed for a school zone near Grant Road and Highway 249 Thursday, then followed her vehicle through one of northwest Harris County's busiest commuter corridors.
The victim, who asked to remain anonymous when she spoke with FOX 26 Houston, said the confrontation erupted the moment she reduced her speed inside the school zone. The incident unfolded near the Grant Road interchange with Highway 249 in the Willowbrook area, a stretch traveled each morning by both commuters merging onto the freeway and parents dropping children at nearby Cypress-Fairbanks ISD campuses, including Black Elementary School on Grant Road.
Video obtained by FOX 26 documents the sequence in full: the suspect exits his pickup, takes what appears to be a machete from the back seat, and closes on the woman's vehicle while yelling profanities and threats. He knocks on her window, tells her to "get out," and threatens to cut her head off before walking back to his truck, stowing the weapon, and getting in. He then follows her.
"I'm somebody's mother," the victim told FOX 26, describing the terror of being pursued after the confrontation. Her husband told the station she had been on her way to work at the time.
Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman's office confirmed it is investigating the incident and said constables are actively searching for the suspect, whose identity has not been released. The Harris County District Attorney's Office told FOX 26 that charges have been accepted on a suspect, though the specific charge or charges have not been disclosed. Whether an arrest has been made remains unclear.
Anyone who travels the Grant Road corridor near Highway 249 during school zone hours and has dashcam footage of the suspect's pickup truck is urged to contact the Precinct 4 Constable's Office directly with any video, vehicle descriptions, or license plate information. The office is the primary investigative agency on the case.
The Willowbrook area has drawn road rage violence before. In 2019, a man was shot in the face during a road rage encounter in the same northwest Harris County zone, on Cutten Road near Bourgeois Road. Thursday's machete threat marks a new escalation in a corridor that thousands of Harris County residents drive daily during school hours.
