Harris County authorities were searching for Danilo Javier Osorio Mendez, 39, an Arlington man accused of stabbing a woman in a Spring motel room after she tried to escape, then dragging her back inside and leaving her on the floor. Investigators said the case involved charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault and assault impeding breath.

The victim and Mendez both lived in Arlington and were staying together in a Harris County motel for work, authorities said. Investigators said Mendez became intoxicated before the attack. When the woman tried to flee, she told authorities he dragged her back into the room, stabbed her and left her on the floor.

The assault was first reported to the Arlington Police Department, which documented the woman’s injuries and referred the case to Constable Mark Herman’s Special Victims Unit for follow-up. Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office investigators then identified Mendez as the suspect and issued the internal case reference HC2512-00345.

Bond had not been set by the 487th District Court. Authorities said Mendez was wanted on charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault and assault impeding breath. Harris County officials urged anyone with information about the incident or Mendez’s whereabouts to contact Constable Mark Herman’s Office or local law enforcement.

The search has added weight in Harris County Precinct 4, one of four precincts in the county and home to more than 1.2 million people. In a precinct that covers a large and densely populated part of the Houston area, investigators said a violent motel-room attack like this one demands a fast public response and attention from anyone who may recognize Mendez or know where he went.
