Harris County Teen Gabriella Powers Found Safe After Missing Person Appeal
A tip from someone who spotted Gabriella Powers on social media led to the 17-year-old's safe recovery days after she vanished from a party near Lauder Road.

Gabriella Powers, a 17-year-old Harris County resident, was found safe after the Harris County Sheriff's Office asked the public on March 23 to help locate her following her disappearance from the Houston/Aldine area. The recovery came quickly, and according to Grizzy's Hood News, the break in the case came not from surveillance footage or a patrol unit but from an ordinary Facebook post that put her face in front of the right person at the right time.
Authorities had been searching for Gabriella since she was last seen at approximately 3 a.m. on Lauder Road near John F. Kennedy Boulevard, in the 3500 block of that street near George Bush Intercontinental Airport in zip code 77039. The exact calendar date of her disappearance remains slightly disputed across sources, with some reporting Sunday, March 21 and others citing Sunday, March 22. The Harris County Sheriff's Office has not publicly resolved that discrepancy.
Grizzy's Hood News, a Houston-area Facebook page with a substantial local following, published the initial missing-person appeal and later confirmed the outcome. "Gabriella Powers has been found and is alive," the page announced. "Someone recognized her on a social media posting and tipped in the info." The original appeal drew 1.8K reactions, 620 comments, and 817 shares before the page posted its follow-up.
During the search, Gabriella was described as 5'4" and approximately 120 pounds, with black hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a silver butterfly shirt layered over a black T-shirt, blue jean shorts, fishnet stockings, and a hoodie. Grizzy's Hood News reported that she had been involved in a physical altercation shortly before she went missing, calling that detail "critical to the investigation," though the Harris County Sheriff's Office had not publicly confirmed those circumstances, with KHOU noting at the time that "the circumstances surrounding her disappearance are unknown."
No official statement from the Sheriff's Office confirming the method of recovery, whether Gabriella received medical attention, or whether any arrests or charges resulted has been publicly released. The investigation's current status is not confirmed by authorities.
The case underscores how quickly a coordinated social media push can supplement formal law enforcement channels in the Houston area.
