Jury Acquits Brittany Brown in 2022 Fatal Shooting of Ericka Hall
A Houston jury acquitted Brittany Brown of killing her wife Ericka Hall, found with multiple bullet wounds in a Sunnyside apartment while her 12-year-old daughter slept nearby.

Three years after Brittany Brown was charged with fatally shooting her wife, a Houston jury acquitted her Monday of the 2022 killing that left Ericka Hall dead inside a Sunnyside apartment while Hall's 12-year-old daughter slept in an adjacent bedroom.
Hall, 30, was found with multiple bullet wounds in an apartment on the 4800 block of Jarmese Street near Calhoun Road in February 2022. Court documents confirmed the child was asleep in the next room when Hall was killed.
Brown faced charges in connection with the shooting for approximately three years before the jury returned its not-guilty verdict. The acquittal closes the criminal case against her, though the circumstances that brought investigators to that Jarmese Street apartment in 2022 remain part of the public record.

The killing on Jarmese Street near Calhoun Road was one of several fatal shootings in southeast Houston in recent years. HPD officers separately discovered a man's body on a southeast Houston road after hearing gunshots in the area, an incident police described as part of a recent string of fatal shootings; no suspects were in custody in that case and police asked the public to provide tips.
Hall's death drew initial attention when police described the scene: a woman shot multiple times inside her home, her young daughter asleep nearby, and a wife who would spend the next three years as a criminal defendant before a jury ultimately sided with her defense.
