Man Shot While Driving on Sam Houston Parkway, Listed Stable
A 25-year-old man was shot in a suspected road-rage incident on the 10900 block of W. Sam Houston Parkway North near Fallbrook at 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

A 25-year-old man survived a suspected road-rage shooting on the 10900 block of West Sam Houston Parkway North Thursday morning, pulling himself to the Fallbrook exit and calling 911 before collapsing into medical care, the Harris County Sheriff's Office confirmed.
The shooting happened around 6:30 a.m. on March 26, during the heart of the northwest corridor's morning commute. The man was struck while driving along Beltway 8 and, despite his injury, managed to steer to a stop near the Fallbrook exit before placing the call for help. First responders transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in serious condition. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed investigators believe the shooting was road-rage related.
Detectives from HCSO are waiting until the victim has recovered sufficiently to give a formal statement before building out a full sequence of events. In the meantime, investigators are working the physical scene near the 10900 block, tracing bullet trajectories, canvassing for shell casings, and pulling any available business or traffic-camera footage along the stretch of Beltway 8 between Highway 290 and the Fallbrook interchange.
Roadway shootings create a distinct forensic challenge: vehicles carry potential evidence away from the scene, and passing motorists who witness an incident rarely stop. That makes dash-camera footage especially valuable on a high-volume corridor like Beltway 8. HCSO is asking anyone who was driving westbound or northbound on West Sam Houston Parkway between roughly 6:15 and 6:45 a.m. Thursday to review their dashcam recordings. If your camera captured anything, including an aggressive confrontation between vehicles, an unusual lane maneuver, or the sound of a gunshot, contact the Harris County Sheriff's Office tip line at 713-221-6000. Do not delete footage before making a copy.

This is not an isolated event on the Beltway 8 corridor. On Christmas morning 2025, Desmond Butler, 25, was fatally shot on West Sam Houston Parkway South near the 6609 block; suspect Jonathan Ross Mata, 39, was subsequently charged with murder in the 496th Criminal District Court, with investigators noting Butler had driven from the shooting location before stopping at a gas station in the 9900 block of Bellaire. The parallels, a victim driving after being shot on Beltway 8, underscore what has become a documented pattern of gun violence along this loop.
Detectives have not confirmed whether Thursday's shooter fired from a passing vehicle, whether there was a prior confrontation, or whether the victim and suspect were known to each other. Those details are expected to emerge once investigators interview the victim. The sheriff's office said it would release additional information as the investigation allows without compromising the integrity of the case.
