Deputies were called to the 14100 block of Renault Street in east Harris County around 9 a.m. Tuesday after a 28-year-old man reported being stabbed in the back, sending him to the hospital.

A Harris County Sheriff’s Office detective told ABC13 at the scene that the man was expected to be OK. Investigators were still working to sort out exactly what led to the attack in the east Harris County neighborhood.

What deputies said they knew so far pointed to an argument before the stabbing. A witness told investigators the victim was arguing with someone, but the relationship between the two people remained unclear.

The victim was not being cooperative with investigators, deputies said, which left detectives with limited information as they tried to determine who was involved and why the confrontation turned violent. No further details were released about a suspect or whether anyone else was injured.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office, which was founded in 1837, says it is the largest sheriff’s office in Texas and the third-largest in the nation. The agency says it has nearly 5,100 employees and 200 volunteer reservists serving more than 4.1 million residents across Harris County, a scale that underscores how quickly even a single stabbing can pull in a major investigative force.
