North Harris County Daycare Damaged by Early Morning Fire, No Injuries Reported

Smoke and flames were already showing from the roof when Ponderosa Fire Department crews pulled up to Edu-Care Private School on Kuykendahl Road shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday. The north Harris County daycare was empty at the time, and no injuries were reported as firefighters worked to contain the blaze to the building.
Units brought the fire under control by 3:30 a.m., roughly 90 minutes after the initial call, according to the Ponderosa Fire Department. Five additional agencies provided mutual aid: Champions Emergency Services District, Harris County ESD 16 - Klein Fire Department, Harris County ESD 17 - Little York Fire Department, Northwest Volunteer Fire Department, Harris County ESD 11 Mobile Healthcare, and the Spring Fire Department. The facility, located near Bammel Village, sustained damage confined to the building itself.
According to the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office, the fire was contained to the building and the structure was unoccupied when firefighters arrived. No damage estimates or structural assessments beyond the containment detail have been released.
The cause of the fire has not been determined. The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office is leading the investigation, and no preliminary findings have been made public as of Friday.
