Northwest Houston Apartment Fire Damages 16 Units, Displaces Dozen Residents
A two-alarm fire tore through half of a 32-unit apartment complex on Grow Lane last week, displacing about a dozen northwest Houston residents with no injuries reported.

Heavy smoke pouring from the second floor of an apartment building on the 7800 block of Grow Lane brought a two-alarm Houston Fire Department response on Tuesday evening, damaging 16 of the complex's 32 units and displacing approximately 12 residents.
Firefighters arrived around 7:40 p.m. on March 24 to find the structure already thick with smoke. Early reports indicated someone might be trapped inside one of the burning units, prompting crews to search the interior before the fire was fully contained. HFD found no occupants inside and reported no injuries to tenants or firefighters.
The blaze damaged 16 of the building's 32 units, leaving about a dozen residents without housing. At the time of initial reporting, no information had been provided about which agencies or organizations were coordinating emergency shelter or recovery assistance for those displaced. It also remained unclear whether utilities had been shut off or whether the building had been assessed for structural safety.

The two-alarm designation indicated that additional fire companies were required beyond the initial response, reflecting the conditions HFD crews encountered upon arriving at Grow Lane.
The cause remained under investigation as of Tuesday night. No point of origin or contributing factors had been publicly identified, and HFD had not provided a timeline for when investigators expected to release preliminary findings on the incident.
