One dead in southwest Houston gas station shooting, police investigate

A white Toyota pulled into a southwest Houston gas station parking lot where four people were gathered, and gunfire quickly turned the busy Harwin Drive and Fondren Road corridor into a fatal shooting scene. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while police said the victim’s identity had not yet been released publicly and would be verified by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Houston police said the violence began around 8 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2026, when two males entered the vehicle and shots were fired inside it. In that case, Houston police said the victim was believed to be in his 20s and that identification remained pending with the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Taken together, the two investigations pointed to a stretch of southwest Houston that remained under close scrutiny as detectives worked to determine who fired first, who fled, and how many people were involved.
