A white Toyota pulled into a southwest Houston gas station parking lot where four people were gathered, and gunfire quickly turned the busy Harwin Drive and Fondren Road corridor into a fatal shooting scene. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while police said the victim’s identity had not yet been released publicly and would be verified by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Houston police said the violence began around 8 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2026, when two males entered the vehicle and shots were fired inside it. The confrontation then spilled into the parking lot after passengers got out, turning the gas-station lot into a chaotic exchange of gunfire in a commercial area used daily by drivers, shoppers and workers moving through southwest Houston.

Several people fled after the shooting, but investigators later tracked two wounded individuals to a nearby hospital. Police said one of them drove the other to receive medical treatment. Both were detained as part of the investigation, and the vehicle involved in the shooting was taken into Houston Police Department custody, where its contents had not yet been fully processed.

Authorities were still searching for additional suspects, leaving key parts of the sequence unresolved even as the broad outline became clear: a routine stop at a gas station near a major retail corridor ended with one death and multiple gunshot victims. The case also underscored how quickly a dispute can become lethal when firearms are present in a crowded parking lot.

The shooting unfolded in the same general Fondren-area corridor where police were also investigating a separate fatal shooting at 5803 Fondren Road about 8 p.m. that same Sunday. In that case, Houston police said the victim was believed to be in his 20s and that identification remained pending with the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Taken together, the two investigations pointed to a stretch of southwest Houston that remained under close scrutiny as detectives worked to determine who fired first, who fled, and how many people were involved.
