For the second time in four days, deputies with Harris County Constable Precinct 4 converged on the 18700 block of North Freeway in Spring, this time catching four suspects breaking into a local business while the crime was still underway.

The real-time intercept left no gap between crime and custody. Deputies with Constable Mark Herman's office arrived while the break-in was in progress and detained all four individuals on the scene. No formal charges had been publicly confirmed as of Thursday, and the name of the targeted business was not released.

The same block had already drawn a significant law enforcement response just days earlier. On March 30, deputies responded to reports of suspicious activity at the abandoned Main Street America property at 18700 North Freeway, a former showroom for model homes and furniture that has sat vacant for some time. Six individuals were taken into custody in that case, which emerged from a social media-driven trend drawing people to the empty site.

Two enforcement actions at the same address within a week underscore the strain that back-to-back property crimes place on a commercial corridor already absorbing the pressures of explosive growth. North Harris County ranks among the fastest-growing areas in the nation, and the I-45 stretch through Spring has become one of the region's most active commercial zones. PCT4 covers this territory out of eight facilities across its jurisdiction and holds the distinction of being the largest constable's office in the United States by both personnel count and population served.

Constable Herman, who joined the department in 1986 and was appointed to lead PCT4 in May 2015, has built the office into a full-service agency positioned for fast-response operations across the sprawling north Harris County corridor.

Business owners with security concerns along the North Freeway can reach PCT4's non-emergency line at 281-376-3472; emergencies should go to 911.
