A house party on the 7300 block of Parkes Street in Acres Homes erupted in gunfire just after 9 p.m. Saturday, striking six people and leaving one man hospitalized in critical condition. HPD has one person detained while investigators pursue what they believe was a multi-shooter attack in the northwest Houston neighborhood.

Officers from the Houston Police Department were dispatched after receiving multiple shooting calls and arrived to find a large crowd still gathered in the yard where the party had been taking place. Six people had been hit. Houston Fire Department crews took one man to the hospital by ambulance. Multiple other victims, also wounded, took themselves to different hospitals across the city.

Of the six people shot, one remained in critical condition; the other five were expected to be OK, according to officials. Investigators confirmed that none of those shot was a child.

HPD said one person is detained in connection with the shooting. No charges had been reported. Investigators said they believe more than one shooter was involved in the attack, though the number of gunmen had not been confirmed and no motive was identified.
