A parking lot at 14315 Bellaire Boulevard near Pavillion Drive turned into a crime scene Sunday evening when one of three males in a passing group opened fire on a teenager walking with two companions, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies responded around 8 p.m.

HCSO Detective Hazel said the victim and his two companions were walking through the lot when they crossed paths with the other group of three males. The two groups exchanged words briefly before one member of the second group started shooting. A single shot struck the teen in the leg. He was transported to a hospital and listed in stable condition.

The 14315 block of Bellaire sits near the Mission Bend community in southwest Harris County, on a commercial corridor that has absorbed repeated parking lot gun violence. In December 2024, a 15-year-old girl was killed and two men were wounded after groups in vehicles exchanged gunfire in a strip-center parking lot at 6237 Bellaire Boulevard near Hillcroft Avenue, around 9 p.m. Houston police investigated a separate fatal shooting at 6400 Bellaire Boulevard in March 2025, also in the evening hours. Sunday's shooting marks the corridor's third such incident in roughly 15 months, with each case sharing a common thread: a brief confrontation between groups in an open lot, with gunfire following within seconds.

That pattern raises direct questions about security infrastructure. Investigators were on scene reviewing any available surveillance video from nearby businesses, a phrasing that suggests the parking lot at 14315 Bellaire may lack its own dedicated camera coverage. Whether the property has adequate lighting, contracted security patrols, or camera systems pointed at the lot has not been confirmed by HCSO or the property's management.

No suspects have been identified or arrested. Detectives were canvassing for witnesses and working to determine a motive. No physical descriptions of the three males have been released.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Harris County Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
