Woman fatally shot in Cloverleaf home, deputies investigate domestic violence murder
Three children were inside a Cloverleaf home on Texarkana Street when a woman was shot dead just after 1 p.m. Saturday, and deputies are treating it as a domestic-violence killing.

Three children were inside a Cloverleaf home on Texarkana Street when deputies say a woman was shot dead just after 1 p.m. Saturday, May 2, turning a residential block in east Harris County into the scene of a suspected domestic-violence homicide.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said deputies responded to the 14200 block of Texarkana Street and found an adult woman with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A man was detained at the house as investigators began sorting out what led to the shooting.
Gonzalez said the preliminary information pointed to a domestic violence incident. The presence of three children in the home made the case especially troubling, even though none of the children were hurt. Investigators were expected to work through witness statements, any earlier calls for help, and other evidence to determine whether the case should be handled as murder and whether warning signs were missed before gunfire erupted inside the house.
The shooting deepened concern in Cloverleaf, a heavily traveled part of east Harris County where a violent call can ripple quickly through nearby neighborhoods. A daytime killing in a family setting can leave neighbors shaken and families nearby worried about what happened behind closed doors.
Later reports said the detained man faces a murder charge, though the woman had not been publicly identified in the coverage available. The case adds to the long list of family-violence investigations that place pressure on deputies to quickly reconstruct the sequence of events, identify prior threats, and determine whether intervention might have come sooner.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says it serves more than 4.1 million residents across 1,788 square miles and 41 incorporated municipalities, with nearly 5,100 employees and about 200 volunteer reservists. The agency says it is the largest sheriff’s office in Texas and the third-largest in the nation. It also offers a case-status inquiry page for crimes against persons, including family violence and homicide.
For people facing abuse, help is available now. The National Domestic Violence Hotline operates 24/7 and offers call, chat and text support. Local options include the Houston Area Women’s Center, Northwest Assistance Ministries’ Family Violence Center, Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse and The Montrose Center.
The CDC says intimate partner violence is a serious public health problem affecting millions of Americans each year. In Harris County, where domestic calls can turn fatal in an instant, the Cloverleaf killing is a stark reminder of how quickly warning signs can become a death investigation.
