Brooksville Sex Offender Arrested for Hiding Active Social Media Accounts
Drayton told investigators he hid his Facebook and Snapchat accounts because he knew internet access violated his probation terms.

A routine probation search at a transient location in Brooksville unraveled months of deliberate concealment on March 2, when Christopher Don Drayton, 33, was arrested after investigators found active Facebook and Snapchat accounts on his phone that he had never reported to authorities.
Drayton, born May 3, 1992, is designated a sexual offender under Florida law following a 2022 Hernando County conviction for Unlawful Sexual Activity with Certain Minors, involving victims aged 16 to 17. He had been released from prison in October 2025 and was under active supervision when Probation and Parole Officer Dekeyser conducted the search alongside Detective Marcacci of the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.
During the search, Officer Dekeyser examined Drayton's phone and found he had accessed the internet to view social media platforms and pornography. Both the Facebook and Snapchat accounts were active and contained messages to other users dating back to his October 2025 release from prison, a span of roughly four months.
Detective Marcacci then pulled Drayton's profile from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Sexual Offender Predator System and found no internet identifiers or social media accounts on file. The system showed his most recent transient registration had been completed that same day, March 2.
Drayton's own words sealed the case. According to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, "Drayton stated he had maintained both social media accounts for several months and understood he was required to report them within 48 hours of creation. Drayton stated he failed to report the accounts because he knew he was not permitted to access the internet while on probation."

He was charged with two counts of Failure to Report Internet Identifier and one count of Knowingly Providing False Registration Information. Drayton is being held without bond at the Hernando County Detention Center.
Florida law requires registered sexual offenders to report internet identifiers, including social media accounts, to their local sheriff's office within 48 hours of creation. Drayton's admission that he withheld the accounts precisely because he knew internet use violated his probation conditions gave investigators both the evidence and the motive in a single conversation.
The Hernando County Sheriff's Office operates under Sheriff Al Nienhuis. Anyone with information related to the case can contact Hernando County Crime Stoppers at 1-866-990-TIPS (8477). Anonymous tips may qualify for a reward of up to $5,000.
