Corrigan’s grand slam powers Nature Coast to 10-0 semifinal win
Corrigan’s grand slam turned a tight semifinal into a 10-0 rout, sending Nature Coast into the district title game against Crystal River.

Caitlin Corrigan gave Nature Coast Tech the postseason breakaway it needed, and the Sharks turned that one swing into a 10-0 shutout of Dunnellon in the Class 3A District 6 semifinal at the Shark Tank in Brooksville.
The win sent Nature Coast into Thursday night’s district championship game against Crystal River, which had beaten Hernando 9-2 in the other semifinal. Nature Coast entered the title round at 20-4, while Dunnellon’s season ended at 9-14.
For a while, the game still had some tension. Nature Coast led only 1-0 early, and Dunnellon put pressure on the home team in both the second and third innings by loading the bases each time. Junior pitcher Izzy Miller kept the Sharks from getting rattled, working through the jams and finishing with five shutout innings, two hits allowed and six strikeouts.

Then came the inning that changed everything. Freshman Eliana Folasa and juniors Miranda Wiemer and Kam Ross each singled to load the bases with no outs. Corrigan followed by launching a grand slam over the center-field fence, a shot that instantly turned a close semifinal into a runaway. She finished with seven runs batted in, two runs scored and two hits, one of the most imposing playoff lines of the season.
Nature Coast kept adding to the margin after that. Freshman Addisyn Evans drove in another run as the Sharks kept the pressure on until the 10-run advantage ended the game by mercy rule.

Jug Olmstead said he was pleased with how the lineup stayed consistent from top to bottom and pointed to the team’s recent run as evidence of how much the group has grown. Nature Coast had won 15 of its last 16 games by the time of the semifinal, and the Sharks had already shown the kind of firepower that can change a district bracket in one inning.
That was evident earlier in April, when Nature Coast beat Weeki Wachee 10-0 and extended a six-game winning streak while outscoring opponents 65-2 over that stretch. On Wednesday, Corrigan’s grand slam did more than pad a score; it confirmed that Nature Coast was still capable of controlling a postseason game with pitching, defense and one big swing.
