HCSO Seeks Public Help Identifying Duo Linked to 9 Shopping Plaza Burglaries
Two suspects cut power to a Spring Hill shopping plaza before breaking in; HCSO links them to as many as 9 burglaries and is offering $5,000 for tips.

Before forcing their way into a single storefront, one of the two suspects caught on surveillance video went straight to the breaker box and cut power to the entire plaza. That detail, released Tuesday by the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, sits at the center of an investigation now spanning as many as nine commercial burglaries across the Forest Oaks Boulevard and Deltona Boulevard shopping plaza corridor in Spring Hill.
HCSO investigators linked the two suspects to the string of break-ins after reviewing footage that captured the pair operating in the early morning hours, forcing entry into multiple retail storefronts after deliberately disabling the lighting. One documented incident placed a suspect at the scene around 2:20 a.m. on a Saturday. Investigators are treating the incidents as a connected series and canvassing neighboring businesses for additional footage.
The financial toll extends well beyond what was lifted from registers. In at least one break-in, suspects took several hundred dollars in cash, but HCSO noted that repair costs, board-up expenses, and lost business hours compound those losses significantly. For small retailers operating on thin margins in strip plazas, each forced entry means potential alarm upgrades, higher insurance premiums, and days of disruption.
Neither suspect has been identified or arrested. Surveillance images released by HCSO show two individuals working in coordination, with one caught at the electrical panel before entry. Investigators say even a partial detail from a witness, a vehicle make or model, a partial tag number, or a recognizable clothing item, could advance the case.
