Land O'Lakes Gators Win Farm Bureau Baseball Classic Championship in Brooksville
Land O'Lakes Gators won the Farm Bureau Insurance High School Baseball Classic in Brooksville, topping the Sunlake Seahawks on March 21 for the tournament title.

The Land O'Lakes Gators came to Brooksville and left with a championship. The Gators defeated the Sunlake Seahawks in the Farm Bureau Insurance High School Baseball Classic championship game on March 21, capping a dominant run through one of the region's premier preseason tournaments.
The Farm Bureau Insurance High School Baseball Classic served as the dominant sporting event of the week, coinciding with Hernando County schools' spring break. The timing drew strong competition from across the area, with local programs using the multi-day tournament as a proving ground heading into the back half of the regular season.
Land O'Lakes had to earn its place in the final. Hernando High, after winning its first two games, made the deepest run of any of the local teams but fell short against the eventual tournament champion 7-6 in the semifinal round played Thursday, March 19. Playing host to the Gators at Emerson Field, the Leopards matched the visitors by scoring three runs apiece in the first inning, but Land O'Lakes built a 7-3 lead through the middle innings and held on as Hernando scored three in the bottom of the seventh.
The Leopards had built momentum heading into that semifinal, having defeated Harmony 8-1 on Tuesday, March 17 and Seminole 13-2 on Wednesday, March 18. Their run through the bracket made the 7-6 loss all the more competitive, but Land O'Lakes proved the stronger side when it mattered.
With the Leopards eliminated, the Gators advanced to face Sunlake in the championship. The Seahawks, who share the same Pasco County school district as Land O'Lakes, entered as a familiar rival. The two programs compete in the same FHSAA Class 6A District 9, making the tournament final a postseason preview of sorts. Land O'Lakes won that matchup to claim the Farm Bureau Classic title on March 21 in Brooksville.
The championship adds a notable early-season hardware marker for the Gators program heading into district play this spring.
