The Nature Coast boys track and field team rolled to a dominant victory at the annual Kiwanis Invitational on Wednesday, March 12, piling up 249.5 points at Hernando High to claim their third first-place finish in four completed meets this season.

The margin was commanding. Armwood finished second at 182.5 points, more than 67 points back, while host Hernando placed third with 63. Crystal River was fourth with 57, Land O'Lakes fifth at 49, Weeki Wachee sixth at 28, and Central (Brooksville) seventh with 11, according to official results from the Florida Track and Field Results Reporting System.

Elsewhere in local spring sports, Hernando's softball team downed Clearwater Central Catholic 9-4 on March 9. Leanna Clark homered and drove in three runs, Murphi Blade went 2 for 4 with a double, a run and an RBI, Rae Easton was 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored, Aubrey Knierim drove in two and scored once, Lily Jernigan went 2 for 2 with a run and an RBI, and Kenderlyn Hart drove in a run.

Central's softball team handled Weeki Wachee 15-5 on March 10 in a performance dominated by multi-hit efforts.
