On Friday night at Weeki Wachee, the Springstead Eagles pulled away from the Weeki Wachee Hornets for a 42 21 victory in the schools' quadruple header, improving Springstead's record to 11 1 while Weeki Wachee fell to 6 6. The contest began with the Hornets taking an early 4 0 lead, but the Eagles responded with a dominant 20 2 run that effectively decided the game by halftime.

Junior Michelle Ramirez Hoyos sparked the rally, hitting a three pointer with 1 43 left in the first quarter and finishing with a team high 14 points. She scored nine points during the decisive run and took on more ball handling responsibilities after sophomore Ariana Willoughby, who scored six points, fouled out. Senior Addisson Osborne added 12 points and provided a strong second half presence, while junior Arianna Brookins contributed six points including late three pointers that helped seal the outcome.

Coach Zach Anspach credited a change in mindset and tactical adjustment for the turnaround, noting the team battled the gym's chilly conditions early before responding. "We just kind of switched it up," Coach Anspach said. "We talked. I said… 'We are going to do some different stuff. Let’s be a little bit more aggressive.' We fouled a little bit, but partly that was on purpose just to kind of get ourselves going a little bit, get ourselves warmed up… We kind of just wanted to get some offense through defense… We did a good job adjusting and playing at our tempo… That really got our offense going. The shots started falling."

Anspach also praised Ramirez Hoyos for her improvement and two way contributions. "[Ramirez Hoyos] is probably one of the most improved players that I have ever coached," said Anspach. "She has just worked on her game so much, and she can shoot… She is a great offensive player. I think she is in the top ten percent in the state in made threes, but she has worked on her defense… She is second in rebounding for us… She has really worked on and improved her game so much. I am very proud of her."

Beyond the scoreboard, the game underscores ongoing community priorities for Hernando County. Local youth sports provide physical activity, social connection, and developmental supports for young people, yet facility conditions and equitable investment across programs matter for safety and performance. Cold venues can slow warmups and raise injury risk, and intentional strategies such as aggressive fouling carry tradeoffs when players risk foul trouble. As the season continues, Springstead's success will energize school spirit and attention on girls athletics, while Weeki Wachee will regroup and address areas for improvement on and off the court.
