Fire Breaks Out at Seaford Scallop Pier, No Injuries Reported
York County firefighters put out a heavy timber pier fire at Seaford Scallop on Shirley Road just before 11 p.m. Tuesday; no injuries were reported and the cause remains under investigation.

Firefighters responded to a fire at Seaford Scallop's pier in York County, Virginia, Tuesday night, arriving just before 11 p.m. to find the dock heavily involved in flames. No injuries were reported.
The York County Fire Department was dispatched to the 500 block of Shirley Road in the Seaford community, where a heavy timber pier at the waterfront seafood business had caught fire. Crews disconnected power to the pier before moving in to suppress the blaze. The fire was fully extinguished by 11:40 p.m., approximately 40 minutes after firefighters were first called to the scene.
Overhaul operations followed the knockdown, with crews removing damaged boards from the pier structure. The York County Fire Department confirmed no other buildings or structures on the Seaford Scallop property were affected.
Seaford Scallop Company operates as a wholesale scallop and seafood business on Shirley Road, functioning as a commercial fishing vessel port and marine supply operation. The working waterfront location, which includes docking infrastructure for fishing vessels, made the pier a focal point of the response.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
