Lordsburg schools set May board meeting, track championship travel ahead
May 18 board comments in Lordsburg are due by 4 p.m., as families track dual-credit registration and student health services that stay open.

Hidalgo County families watching Lordsburg Municipal Schools have a short list of dates to keep straight, starting with the Board of Education meeting set for Monday, May 18, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at 401 W. 4th Street in Lordsburg. The district says the meeting will also be available by live stream, and public forum comments for that night are due by 4:00 p.m. to boardcomments@lmsed.org.
That meeting falls into the district’s regular monthly board cycle, with agenda packets posted for earlier 2025-26 meetings, including April 20, 2026. For parents and staff, that matters because board calendars often set the tone for end-of-year decisions, from operations to student support, just as the semester reaches its busiest stretch.
The spring schedule has also already included championship travel. The New Mexico Activities Association listed the 2026 Class A-3A state track and field championships for May 8 and 9 in Albuquerque, part of the 2026 Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico NMAA State Track & Field Championships. For a district the size of Lordsburg, those kinds of trips can pull students, coaches and families in several directions at once, especially when the school year is closing out and public meetings are still on the calendar.
At the same time, the district is keeping academic options open for students who want to get ahead. WNMU dual credit registration is open for 2025 Summer and 2025 Fall enrollment, with the program available to students in grades 9-12. The online fee is $90 per class, and the district lists Lordsburg High School counselor Bobbie Stewart as the contact for registration. For families weighing college costs, that fee can make a real difference in whether a student can take an early step toward a degree.

The homepage also points families toward health services that can be easy to miss if no one is checking the district site. The HMS School-Based Health Center behind Lordsburg High School is open for students, and Hidalgo Medical Services is offering vision services by appointment at 575-440-0443. A live-feed message from Nurse Jill also highlights oral health, cites Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance on tooth decay and notes that the Lordsburg HMS facility has a dental clinic.
Taken together, the meeting notice, championship calendar, dual-credit registration and school-based health links show a district trying to hold academics, athletics and basic health access together as the school year winds down.
