The Southwest New Mexico Council of Governments has scheduled a regular board meeting that could affect Hidalgo County programs at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, in person at the Silver City Town Annex, 1203 N Hudson, Silver City, with remote participation available. The legal notice on Grant County Beat lists the meeting time and place and identifies the council as the regional planning and coordination body serving Catron, Grant, Hidalgo and Luna counties.
The notice states the meeting will be available by Zoom and includes a dial-in line, listing “+1 309 205 3325 US” and the prompt “Find your local number:” in the published text. The legal posting includes accessibility instructions: “If you are an individual with a disability, who needs a reader, amplifier, qualified sign language interpreter or any other form of auxiliary aid or service to attend or participate in the meeting, please contact the Council of Governments office at 1203 North Hudson, Silver City, NM or (575) 388-1509 at least one week prior to the meeting.”
Officials directed members and the public to the council office for materials. The notice says, “An agenda may be obtained at 1203 North Hudson (City Hall Annex, Upstairs) in Silver City or by calling (575) 388-1509 at least 72 hours before the meeting.” The same legal text adds, “All members are urged to attend. This meeting is open and the public is invited to attend,” and notes Aaron Sera as the chair in the signature block.
Directory listings identify Priscilla C. Lucero as Executive Director of SWNMCOG and provide a mailing address of P.O. Box 2157, Silver City, NM 88062, with a contact phone of 575.388.1509 and a fax of 575.388.1500. The council’s public materials describe its work in specific terms: “The Southwest New Mexico Council of Governments (SWNMCOG) works to strengthen the places and people of Catron, Grant, Hidalgo and Luna counties” and “Our programs support a safe transportation system, clean water, attainable housing, accessible outdoor places, and strong education systems.” The organization also lists program services such as project and grant management, grant writing, technical assistance and a “Senior Home Repair Program.”
Readers should note the published packet also includes separate municipal notices tied to the Grant County Water Commission from 2025 that share the same Silver City address but concern different meetings and officials. Those 2025 entries specify a GCWC meeting on Feb. 27, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in the Town of Silver City Annex 2nd Floor Conference Room at 1203 N. Hudson Street, provide a Zoom Meeting ID and passcode for that 2025 meeting, and instruct members of the public to submit comments by email to Randy Hernandez by 3:00 a.m. on Feb. 26, 2025.
For the SWNMCOG meeting on Feb. 26, 2026, residents and municipal representatives seeking the agenda or auxiliary aids should go to 1203 North Hudson (City Hall Annex, Upstairs) or call (575) 388-1509 at least 72 hours before the meeting; the notice also warns that “A closed session may be called, during the regular board meeting, pursuant to NMSA 1978 10-15 (H).” Aaron Sera is listed as Chairman on the SWNMCOG notice.
