Nine Holmes County Wrestlers Earn Podium Spots at OHSAA State Tournament

Nine wrestlers from the Holmes County area claimed podium finishes at the OHSAA state wrestling tournament at the Schottenstein Center, capping what the region's programs could count as one of their stronger showings at the state level.

The tournament, held earlier this month in Columbus, brought together the top competitors from across Ohio. The nine local finishers represented multiple schools in the Holmes County area, each having advanced through district and regional brackets to reach the state stage.

Podium finishes at the OHSAA state tournament require placing in the top eight of a weight class, meaning each of the nine Holmes County wrestlers won multiple matches against the state's elite competition before their brackets concluded.

The Schottenstein Center, Ohio State University's 20,000-seat arena and a longtime home for the state wrestling tournament, hosted the event. Reaching the podium there carries significant weight in Ohio high school athletics, where the wrestling tournament draws among the largest crowds of any OHSAA championship event.
