Easton Ross turned a fifth-place finish in Louisville into a trip to Fargo, giving West Holmes High School another wrestler headed for one of youth wrestling’s biggest stages.

Ross placed fifth in the 16U Greco-Roman 215-pound division at the USA Wrestling Central Regional Championship Tournament on May 17 at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville, Kentucky. That result mattered in wrestling terms because USA Wrestling’s regional system sends current-year finishers in the top six straight into the Junior and 16U Nationals field. For Ross, it was enough to earn automatic qualification for Fargo Nationals.

The tournament spot he claimed carries real weight in the sport. The 2026 U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals will be held July 10-18 at the FARGODOME in Fargo, North Dakota, a venue that has become a proving ground for some of the strongest young wrestlers in the country. Reaching that bracket means Ross will get another shot against elite competition after already navigating a tough regional field in Greco-Roman, one of wrestling’s most demanding styles because it emphasizes upper-body control, throws and position.

Ross enters that national event as a returning state qualifier and an incoming junior, which puts his Fargo berth in the context of a wrestler already on a steady upward path. In March, four West Holmes wrestlers, Peyton Martin, Gabe Umstead, Louden Dixon and Ross, qualified for the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament, showing that the program had depth well beyond a single standout.

Ross was also recognized by the Holmes County Commissioners in April 2025 after winning the OAC Freshman State Wrestling Tournament. That earlier honor and his latest regional finish point to a wrestler who has been building results over time, not just in one season. For West Holmes, his advancement helps extend the program’s reach beyond winter tournament season and keeps the school in the conversation at the state, regional and now national levels.

For younger wrestlers in the West Holmes program, Ross’s path offers a clear marker of what the standard looks like now. A fifth-place regional finish in a bracket strong enough to send athletes to Fargo shows that West Holmes is producing wrestlers who can hold up against the best in their age group, and it gives the next wave in the room a national target to chase.
