Breeze Airways Launches Nonstop Flights From Humboldt to Las Vegas, Burbank

Nonstop flights from California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport to Las Vegas took off for the first time today, with service to Hollywood Burbank Airport following tomorrow, as Breeze Airways extends its West Coast network into one of California's most geographically isolated air markets.

The Las Vegas route, which launched March 11, runs Wednesdays and Saturdays with fares starting at $49 each way. Burbank service begins March 12, operating Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, with a promotional one-way fare starting at $39. That promotion applies to travel between March 12 and May 12, 2026, with reservations available during a limited booking window of July 17 through July 23. Breeze becomes the second carrier serving ACV after United Airlines, which operates through United Express. Alaska Airlines is separately set to launch nonstop service between ACV and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport beginning April 8, signaling a notable expansion of options for Arcata and Eureka travelers who have long faced limited routing choices.

The timing of Breeze's arrival is directly tied to a competitor's exit. Avelo Airlines announced plans to end its West Coast presence and withdraw from several of the same markets Breeze is entering, including Humboldt County, Burbank, Eugene, Redmond and Tri-Cities in Pasco, Washington. Breeze founder and CEO David Neeleman framed the expansion in terms of filling that gap. "With an expanded West Coast presence that connects travelers to our broader nationwide network, Breeze's service will bring even more options and convenience to these underserved communities," Neeleman said. Chief Commercial Officer Lukas Johnson was more direct about the competitive calculus: "We have long been monitoring opportunities to expand our network on the West Coast and hope the news will be a welcome reprieve for travelers in these communities."

County aviation director Ryan Cooley called the addition significant for regional connectivity. "We are thrilled to welcome Breeze Airways to the California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport," Cooley said. "We appreciate Breeze's commitment to serving the needs of Humboldt County's travelers and visitors while helping to strengthen connectivity in our region." Second District Supervisor and Board Chair Michelle Bushnell echoed that sentiment specifically about the Las Vegas route. "We could not be happier that Breeze Airways has introduced new service between California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport and Las Vegas," Bushnell said. "We are so appreciative of Breeze's dedication to meeting the needs of Humboldt County travelers and visitors and furthering connectivity in our region."

The Humboldt routes are part of a broader Breeze expansion that added five new cities and seven new routes to its network, according to reporting by The Points Guy. The airline, which launched in 2021 and reached profitability last year, now operates 52 Airbus A220s with 38 more aircraft on order. The latest expansion follows the close of Breeze's second consecutive profitable quarter, a trajectory that has positioned the carrier to absorb routes that larger airlines and struggling low-cost competitors have left behind.
