Eureka Woman on Felony Probation Arrested After Meth Found During Traffic Stop
Melissa Dale Parker, 42, was arrested after a late-night traffic stop on Harris Street turned up 30 grams of meth.

A routine traffic stop on the 2500 block of Harris Street turned into a felony arrest late on the night of March 24 when a Humboldt County Sheriff's Office sergeant pulled over a vehicle and discovered approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine inside.
The driver, 42-year-old Melissa Dale Parker of Eureka, was on active felony probation at the time of the stop, which gave the sergeant legal authority to search her vehicle without obtaining a separate warrant. At about 9:40 p.m., that search turned up the meth, and Parker was arrested on scene.
She was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on three counts: possession of a narcotic controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with two or more prior convictions, and a probation violation. The prior-conviction charge signals a documented criminal history that the county prosecutor's office will factor into its formal charging review.
Thirty grams is a notable quantity in local enforcement terms. Street-level personal use rarely accounts for that volume, and the amount is consistent with what investigators typically associate with distribution activity. Methamphetamine trafficking in Humboldt County has long strained both law enforcement and the local behavioral-health providers working to address addiction and its ripple effects.

Parker's probation status was central to how the stop escalated. Court-ordered probation conditions require consent to searches and prohibit drug possession; an arrest on a drug charge while on felony probation typically triggers immediate return to custody, which is what occurred here.
The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office has asked anyone with information related to this case or similar criminal activity to call (707) 445-7251 or the Crime Tip Line at (707) 268-2539.
