Humboldt Sheriff, Partners Net Arrests, Drug Seizures in Weeklong Narcotics Operations

Drug paraphernalia was found spread throughout a 2nd Street residence in Scotia last week after deputies conducted a probation compliance check there, one of the documented results from a seven-day, three-agency narcotics sweep that the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office says produced multiple arrests and drug seizures across the county.

The operations ran from March 19 to March 26, 2026, with the Sheriff's Office Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Team leading the effort. The Humboldt County Drug Task Force and officers from the Rio Dell Police Department joined the operation, though the Sheriff's Office has not detailed what specific resources or personnel each agency contributed, how costs were shared, or how the interagency coordination was structured on the ground.

The one publicly identified arrest from the weeklong sweep centers on 34-year-old Sierra Marshall. On March 24, POP Team deputies and Rio Dell officers visited the 600 block of 2nd Street in Scotia, where Marshall was contacted. She was on active probation, the terms of which required her to submit to search and seizure at any time and barred her from possessing or using drugs or associating with drug traffickers. Deputies found drug paraphernalia throughout the residence, arrested Marshall, and transported her to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. She was booked on two charges: HS 11366, operating or maintaining a drug house, and PC 1203.2(a), violation of probation.

The Sheriff's Office characterized the operations as "proactive," meaning they were launched on the agency's initiative rather than in response to specific complaints. Probation compliance checks are a core enforcement tool for the POP Team, which targets repeat offenders and problem locations. The release did not specify how many compliance checks were conducted, how many individuals on active probation were contacted, or whether the sweep disrupted any identified drug distribution networks.

The public disclosure leaves significant gaps. The Sheriff's Office confirmed "multiple arrests" and the "seizure of controlled substances" but has not released a total arrest count, named any other arrestees, or disclosed what substances were seized in what quantities.
