On December 18, 2025 the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office launched a significantly updated Citizen RIMS platform created with Sun Ridge Systems, a move officials say will deepen transparency and improve public access to law enforcement information. The platform builds on an initiative first launched in 2018 and introduces new tools designed to make incident data, crime statistics and officer citizen interactions easier for residents to explore.

A notable addition is comprehensive Stop Data reporting fully aligned with California’s Racial and Identity Profiling Act of 2015. The new reporting capability documents officer citizen interactions in detail and aims to provide the public with clearer information about stops and related outcomes. Dynamic incident mapping and enhanced crime statistics now provide neighborhood level trend views and user friendly charts and visualizations so residents can more readily interpret local safety conditions.

Citizen RIMS now serves as a centralized resource for daily media releases, stolen vehicle reports, missing person cases and recent arrest information, consolidating items that were previously dispersed across different channels. A voluntary security camera registration feature allows residents and business owners to register private surveillance systems to assist investigations, creating a mechanism for collaboration between the community and investigators while keeping participation optional.

The Sheriff’s Office said additional functionality will be rolled out in coming months, including direct service request capabilities that will enable residents to submit certain requests through the platform. Previous users were asked to update bookmarks because the site address changed with the upgrade. The new platform can be accessed at HCSO.CitizenRIMS.com.

“The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is committed to earning our community’s trust by providing essential public safety information,” said Sheriff Honsal. “The upgraded Citizen RIMS platform is another step toward delivering professional, transparent, and community focused law enforcement in Humboldt County.”

For Humboldt County residents the upgrade promises more accessible information about local public safety, improved ability to spot neighborhood patterns, and new avenues to cooperate with law enforcement. Officials encourage residents to visit the site, review the available data, and remain engaged as new features come online.
