MSP Seeks Public Help After Crystal Falls Church Break-In, Theft

A gallon-sized donation jar containing between $600 and $800 was stolen from Faith Fellowship Bible Church on US-2 in Crystal Falls on March 24, 2025, and Michigan State Police say no arrests have been made nearly a year later.

MSP Iron Mountain Post troopers responded to the break-in at the church, located at 1314 US-2, around 6 p.m. that Monday. Troopers determined someone had broken into the building and taken the jar, which held cash in various denominations.

The jar carries a distinctive description that investigators hope the public will recognize: a push-to-seal lid and an orange adhesive-backed construction paper label on the front bearing the words "SAMS BURU." The unusual label wording may be the strongest lead investigators have, given that no suspect description has been released and no surveillance footage has been made public.

The investigation remains open, and MSP is asking anyone with knowledge of the theft, the jar, or the people involved to call the Iron Mountain Post at 906-774-2122. Troopers are seeking help identifying the suspect or suspects, or any information that could move the case forward.
