Oak Harbor golf sends both teams to state after strong postseason run
Oak Harbor’s golf pipeline sent both varsity teams to state again, with the girls extending a conference and district dynasty and the boys earning a long-awaited full-team berth.

Oak Harbor High School’s golf program has turned postseason trips into a standard. The girls won the Northwest Conference for the fourth year in a row and took first at the 3A District 1 Championship for the fifth straight season, while the boys tied for third in the Northwest Conference and finished second at district to join them at state.
The girls’ run was led by senior Scarlett Nations, who was the district medalist in a 63-player field from 12 schools and repeated as league most valuable player. Head coach Andy Wesley said the team’s success has come from hard work, confidence and chemistry, and assistant coach Kerri Molitor pointed to the way the players support and challenge one another. Seniors Annalise Wesley and Reagan Syring earned all-conference first-team honors, and junior Sidney Louis made second team.

That depth has become a hallmark of the Oak Harbor program. The 2025 girls team finished eighth at state after qualifying five golfers and sending all five into the second day at Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane, a result that followed the Northwest Conference title and District 1 crown it won the year before. Wesley said that group prepared by playing extra rounds and even taking spring-break practice rounds at the state course, a detail that underscored how seriously the program treats May golf.

The boys built their own case with a second-place district finish and enough consistency across the lineup to earn a state berth of their own. Head coach David Smith singled out freshman Jake Hannah as a first-team all-league golfer and said seniors Grady Anderson and Henry Schuller earned second-team recognition. Smith said Anderson was reliable, Hannah was a pleasant surprise as a freshman and Schuller kept improving even while dealing with an injury.

The WIAA 3A boys and girls state golf championships were scheduled for May 19-20, with the boys at Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane and the girls at Deer Park Golf Club in Deer Park. Oak Harbor’s boys postseason path ran through the 3A Districts at Whidbey Golf and Country Club on May 12-13, and the state trip reflected more than one strong week. It showed a program on Whidbey Island that now expects to compete deep into May, with talent spread across grades and across both genders.
