Hilton opens first Curio Collection resort in Hawaii on Kauai

Hilton is bringing its first Curio Collection hotel in Hawai‘i to Kaua‘i, and reservations are already open for stays beginning Oct. 1, 2026. Hale Hōkūala Kaua‘i, Curio Collection by Hilton, will add 210 rooms, including 23 suites, in Līhue near Līhu‘e Airport, putting a new upscale resort directly into one of the island’s most heavily traveled corridors.

The new property sits within the Hōkūala Resort community on about 8.5 acres of a larger 450-acre oceanfront development. Hilton says guests will have access to the Ocean Course at Hōkūala, The Farm at Hōkūala, scenic trails, a signature restaurant, a pool, a fitness center and about 13,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space. That mix points to a hotel built not just for overnight visitors, but also for weddings, meetings and other group business that can keep demand flowing through Līhue beyond the usual room bookings.

The resort is owned by Silverwest Hotels and will be managed by Hilton. Hilton previously said the project was expected to open in fall 2026, and the company has framed the opening as Curio Collection by Hilton’s arrival in Hawai‘i. For Kaua‘i, the scale matters: 210 rooms is a significant addition for an island where every large resort project feeds into questions about traffic, service demand and how much of the visitor economy stays local.

Hilton has also been building out the management team ahead of launch. The company appointed Jon Itoga as general manager to oversee strategy and operations planning, and industry coverage said sales and marketing leadership has also been put in place as the opening approaches. Financing for construction was reported as a $150 million senior loan from Civitas Capital Group.

Hilton already has a substantial presence in Hawai‘i, and Hale Hōkūala Kaua‘i expands that footprint with a brand-new Kaua‘i property tied to one of the island’s most visible resort zones. With bookings now open and the opening date set for Oct. 1, the next phase will show whether the hotel becomes a broader economic asset for Kaua‘i or simply another stop for visitors arriving through Līhue.
