Kauai County Council Meets April 8 in Lihue for Legislative Session
Kauai's County Council opened its chambers Wednesday morning in Līhu'e, giving residents direct access to decisions on infrastructure, public safety, and county spending.

The Kaua'i County Council convened at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in Council Chambers at the Historic County Building in Līhu'e, opening the floor to public testimony on the legislative and budget decisions that shape county operations across the island.
The chambers at 4396 Rice Street, Suite 201, served as the primary meeting site, with Room 106 on the building's first floor designated as an additional participation space. Both rooms operated under an interactive conference technology setup authorized by Hawai'i Revised Statutes, connecting participants across locations in real time.
The session's agenda carried the standard range of county legislative business: bill hearings, resolutions, board and commission appointments, procurement approvals, public-works authorizations, budget items, and committee reports. For anyone tracking specific county priorities, including water system upgrades, road projects, public-safety initiatives, or housing measures, the official agenda was posted to the county's website ahead of the meeting with each item listed by number and description.
Residents who attended in person could submit oral or written testimony directly in Council Chambers. Those needing interpreter services or disability accommodations were directed to contact Council Services in advance, with the meeting notice stressing that requests should be made as early as possible to allow sufficient preparation time. The Office of the County Clerk handles procedural questions about testimony formats and submission deadlines.
Voting records, resolutions, and meeting minutes from the April 8 session will be published on the county's website, along with recorded video for those unable to attend in person.
