Kaua‘i County schedules single-lane closures on Hale‘ilio Road for repaving Feb. 25–27

Single-lane closures will affect Hale‘ilio Road in Kapa‘a to allow county crews and contractors to perform roadway work, the County of Kaua‘i Department of Public Works announced. The county said the closures are intended to allow crews and contractors to perform necessary roadway work and traffic control measures.

A Garden Island report identified the work window more precisely: closures are scheduled Wednesday through Friday, Feb. 25–27, 2026, and will run daily from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, according to the Department of Public Works and its contractor, Maui Kupono Builders. The Garden Island article repeats that schedule and names Maui Kupono Builders as the contractor on the project.

The county description of “necessary roadway work and traffic control measures” is supplemented by the Garden Island’s reporting that the work will include road repaving. The Garden Island also reports that flaggers will be positioned at the work zone to direct traffic, indicating alternating single-lane traffic control during the daytime work hours.

Local drivers should expect delays during the posted hours; The Garden Island advised, "Drivers are urged to make the appropriate arrangements to accommodate the necessary lane closures, use alternate routes, and allow extra time to get to destinations."
