Phone service at the Kaua'i Department of Water was knocked out and restored within the same business day on Monday after an outage disrupted both incoming calls and voicemail access for customers trying to reach the agency.
The DOW experienced the failure on March 10, 2026, prompting the county to issue an advisory alerting the public that phone lines were down. The advisory also provided interim contact instructions so that customers could still reach the department during the disruption.
By 4:30 p.m. that day, the county confirmed that phone service had been fully restored. The quick turnaround meant that customers who were unable to get through earlier in the day could resume contacting the department through normal channels by late afternoon.
The Kaua'i Department of Water serves the island's residents and businesses with drinking water and related utility services, making reliable phone access a practical necessity for billing questions, service requests, and reporting issues in the field.
