Lydgate Beach Park South Comfort Station Remains Without Water Until Further Notice
Water at Lydgate Beach Park south comfort station is shut off due to a broken water line; repairs are delayed and the restroom will remain closed until further notice.

A broken water line has left the south comfort station at Lydgate Beach Park without service, and the Kaua‘i Department of Parks and Recreation says the restroom will remain closed until further notice. The outage affects a key facility used by beachgoers and local residents at one of the island’s busiest park access points.
The county first notified the public that “there is no water at the Lydgate Beach Park south comfort station due to a broken water line,” and initially indicated that “water will be restored by Friday afternoon, pending repairs.” That restoration window was not met. The Department of Parks and Recreation announced on Feb. 6 that repairs are delayed and that “water service at the Lydgate Beach Park south comfort station will remain unavailable until further notice.” The broken line had been expected to be repaired by Friday, Feb. 6; however, the department now reports the timeline has slipped.
The exact cause and location of the break have not been specified by the department, and officials have not provided a new estimate for when the south comfort station will be back in service. It is also not yet clear whether other park amenities such as the north comfort station, drinking fountains, or showers have been affected, or whether temporary toilets or handwashing stations have been deployed.
The Department of Parks and Recreation is the point of contact for further information. For questions, call 808-241-4460 or email parks@kauai.gov. The county’s administrative address is County of Kaua‘i, 4444 Rice Street, Līhu‘e, HI 96766. The Department posts media releases and park notices through county channels for updates.

For residents and visitors planning a beach day at Lydgate, the outage means planning ahead for restroom access and hand hygiene. Lydgate is frequented by locals and visitors alike, and a closed south comfort station can affect families, surf lessons, and those arriving from other parts of the island.
The immediate priority remains repairing the broken water line and restoring normal operations. The Department of Parks and Recreation is handling the response and will provide updates as repairs progress. In the meantime, anyone with questions or concerns should contact the department directly at 808-241-4460 or parks@kauai.gov for the latest information.
