Motorcycle Rider Flown to Oʻahu After Crash Closes Kūhiō Highway
An electric motorcycle rider was flown to Oʻahu in serious condition after a crash at Kūhiō Highway and Kūamoʻo Road shut down the highway for two hours Monday morning.

A crash between an electric motorcycle and an SUV at the intersection of Kūhiō Highway and Kūamoʻo Road in Līhuʻe left the motorcycle rider in serious condition and shut down one of Kauaʻi's busiest corridors for roughly two hours Monday morning.
Kauaʻi police responded to the collision on the morning of March 16, closing Kūhiō Highway in both directions at Kūamoʻo Road while the Kauaʻi Police Department's Traffic Safety Section conducted its investigation on scene. The closure lasted approximately two hours before the highway reopened.
The motorcycle rider was flown to Oʻahu for treatment and was reported to be in serious condition. No information has been released on the identities or conditions of any occupants of the SUV involved in the crash.
The Kauaʻi Police Department's Traffic Safety Section, which handles serious and fatal crash investigations for the county, led the on-scene investigation.
