VA to hold Kauai veterans town hall, benefits event in Līhue

The Veterans Affairs Pacific Islands Health Care System will bring benefits and health staff to Līhue on Tuesday, June 2, for a town hall and community call aimed at helping Kaua‘i veterans handle problems that often require a trip to Oahu or a long stretch on hold.

The event is set for noon to 6 p.m. at the Kauai Veterans Center and Museum, 3215 Kauai Veterans Memorial Highway. VA lists it as a PACT Act Registration and Community Call, and the outreach categories include disability claim questions, health care enrollment, PACT Act, VA eligibility and Veteran ID card help.

VA says the purpose is to engage veterans and their families, address concerns and provide information about VA services and benefits. The gathering is also meant to work as a two-way town hall, with veterans able to hear updates from leadership and raise issues tied to care, claims and access. For many on Kaua‘i, that could mean getting help with enrollment, renewing or replacing an ID card, or sorting out what comes next after a claim, referral or eligibility question stalls.

The event carries added weight on an island far from larger VA hubs. Veterans who need specialty care, travel help, or answers about coverage and benefits often have to navigate several systems at once. A single in-person session in Līhue can narrow that gap, especially for people who may be newly eligible under the PACT Act or who have delayed asking for help because the process felt too distant.

VA Pacific Islands Health Care also held a community call and veteran town hall in West Hawai‘i earlier in 2026, underscoring a strategy built around island-based access rather than expecting veterans to travel to centralized offices.
