Free Sons of Norway Craft and Culture Fair Saturday in Coeur d'Alene
Sons of Norway Harald Haarfager Lodge held a free craft and culture fair at Trinity Lutheran Church, offering food, demonstrations and vendors that highlighted local multicultural heritage.

The Sons of Norway Harald Haarfager Lodge brought a day of food, demonstrations and craft vendors to Trinity Lutheran Church, 812 N. Fifth St., drawing families and local artisans for a community-focused Craft and Culture Fair. The event ran from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, and organizers presented the fair as a chance to connect residents with the region’s cultural traditions.
Organizers framed the gathering as outreach: “The purpose is to connect our our local community to some of the many different cultures and crafts in our area.” Guests were encouraged to explore displays and hands-on demonstrations that showcased Scandinavian and other cultural practices. “Guests are invited to explore the multicultural heritage of the community during this free event. The day will inc” appeared in event copy circulated prior to the fair.
Admission was free for all ages, and the lodge emphasized family access: “Admission is FREE and the event is appropriate for all ages.” Food offerings were a draw for attendees; “Norwegian waffles and coffee can be purchased from 9-11am and Viking on a Stick lunch will be available for purchase from 12-2pm.” Local vendors and exhibitors filled the church hall with handcrafted goods, baking and informational tables, offering direct sales opportunities for small-scale artisans and a low-cost outing for area residents.
The fair’s presence at a central downtown venue reinforced the role of civic institutions in cultural outreach. Hosting the event at Trinity Lutheran Church provided accessible parking and a communal space that community groups and volunteer organizations can use to convene cross-cultural programming. For Kootenai County residents, events like this offer inexpensive ways to support local makers, connect older residents with community activity, and introduce younger attendees to regional heritage skills and crafts.
The Sons of Norway listing and aggregated lodge calendars also reflect a network of similar regional events. Aggregated postings show other Nordic and holiday fairs scheduled across the Pacific Northwest in 2025, underscoring how lodge and daughter-society activity contributes to a circuit of cultural markets and volunteer-run bazaars. An email string appearing in related lodge posts lists leiferiksonlodge@qwestoffice.net; the address appears in aggregated postings but was not identified as a primary event contact for this fair.
For residents, the fair is a reminder that civic life often depends on volunteer organizations and neighborhood institutions to sustain cultural programming and small-scale commerce. Expect similar community fairs from local lodges and cultural groups seasonally, and look for updates on the Sons of Norway Coeur d’Alene - Harald Haarfager Lodge Facebook page or through lodge communications for future dates, vendor lists and accessibility information.
