A Coeur d’Alene house-party assault investigation that started with a heavily intoxicated woman, witness accounts and later DNA testing has now reached the felony charging stage against 18-year-old Isaiah S. Hendrickson.

Kootenai County prosecutors filed the rape charge last week and obtained a warrant for Hendrickson’s arrest. He later posted $100,000 bail, but the case is still moving through the court system and has not resulted in a conviction. The charge places the matter squarely in the county’s formal criminal process, where the elected Kootenai County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office handles cases in district and magistrate court.

According to the court record described in the case, the alleged assault stemmed from a May 2025 party in Coeur d’Alene. The woman told police she had been drinking heavily, had trouble remembering what happened, and later realized something was wrong because of her clothing and the injuries she suffered. A medical examination found injuries consistent with her account, giving investigators physical corroboration early in the case.

Witness statements added more detail. One party attendee said she found the woman nearly passed out in a bathroom and slow to respond. Another said he saw Hendrickson and the woman leave the bathroom together while the woman appeared intoxicated. Investigators also reviewed private messages in which Hendrickson appeared to allude to sexual activity involving the woman.

The case then moved into forensic testing. Police obtained a warrant for Hendrickson’s DNA and compared it with samples taken from the woman’s clothing. In December 2025, analysts concluded that Hendrickson was a potential contributor to the DNA mixture. That combination of medical evidence, witness accounts, digital communications and DNA appears to have given prosecutors enough support to bring the case forward nearly a year after the alleged assault.

The case also highlights why sexual assault cases often take time to file. Reporting can lag behind the incident itself, especially when a victim is intoxicated, disoriented or unsure of what happened until later. In this case, the alleged assault in May 2025 was followed by DNA analysis in December 2025 and a rape charge in early April 2026.

Kootenai County tracks offenses through a crime-comparison page that uses NIBRS data, including rape, sodomy and other sexual-offense categories. The county said overall reported crime fell in 2024 by almost 10 percent, to 7,079 offenses, but sexual-assault cases remain a major public-safety concern.
