Oregon man hurt after box truck overturns, shuts down I-90 near Rose Lake

Eastbound Interstate 90 near Rose Lake was shut down for about four hours after a Ryder box truck overturned near milepost 32, on the east side of 4th of July Pass, leaving one driver hospitalized and traffic stalled on a key Kootenai County corridor.

Idaho State Police said the crash happened at about 2:24 a.m. Sunday, May 10, 2026, when the truck was traveling eastbound and the 47-year-old driver from Reedsport, Oregon, failed to maintain his lane. The box truck struck the jersey barrier, rolled over and blocked the roadway.

The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other vehicles were listed as part of the crash, but the overturned truck was enough to close eastbound I-90 while crews worked the scene and cleared the lane near Rose Lake.
