Post Falls closes North Charleville Road for Quarry Sports Complex work

North Charleville Road closed between East Killdeer Avenue and West Prairie Avenue on June 24 and will stay shut through July 3 while crews make a sewer and water main tie-in for the Quarry Sports Complex project. The closure cuts through a key Post Falls corridor near Highway 41, where even a short shutdown can slow commuters, delivery drivers and emergency access moving through the neighborhood.

The city’s road-closures page lists the same closure window for work tied to the Quarry Sports Complex project rather than a routine repair. Intermittent trail and road closures along Charleville Road and Killdeer Avenue are expected as the site is built out.

Phase I of the Quarry Sports Complex went out for bids on March 11, 2026, with bids due April 1. City documents set work to start in spring 2026. In April, the city council approved a bid from LaRiviere, Inc. to begin construction on the project, which is planned on about 26 acres near Cecil Road and Killdeer Avenue, near Prairie Avenue and Charleville Road, and less than half a mile west of Highway 41.

The first phase is set to include a 125-stall parking lot, two full-size multi-use fields, a large restroom and shelter building, a concrete entry plaza and a fenced maintenance yard. Robbie Quinn, the city parks planner, said Phase I would include two multipurpose fields, a parking lot, a restroom and concessions building, an entry plaza and a maintenance yard. The park site will stay closed during construction.

Post Falls received a $1.25 million Land and Water Conservation Fund grant for the Quarry Sports Complex in November 2025. City pavement-cut policy protects the roadway and reduces future maintenance after those cuts are made.

Phase I is scheduled for completion in December 2026, and spring 2027 is also listed as an estimate.
