CRIT honors students for honor roll, perfect attendance in Parker

CRIT Education used its first awards ceremony of the year to put attendance on the same stage as grades, recognizing tribal students for Honor Roll, Principal’s Honor Roll and Perfect Attendance for the second quarter. The May 21 gathering in Parker turned into a celebration after the honors, with a pizza party, prizes and activities that gave students a public reward for showing up and doing strong academic work.

The ceremony carried added weight in Parker, the primary community on the Colorado River Indian Reservation, where education is part of daily life across a reservation that spans nearly 300,000 acres in Arizona and California. The Colorado River Indian Tribes include the Mohave, Chemehuevi, Hopi and Navajo peoples, and the reservation had about 8,385 residents in the 2018-2022 Census. In that setting, a school event like this does more than hand out certificates. It signals to families that consistent attendance and steady grades are being watched, valued and celebrated.

La Paz County’s Education Service Agency says its mission is to expand opportunity for all youth across the county through partnerships and support, a goal that lines up closely with CRIT Education’s approach.
