Airmen of Note Bring Free Concert to Tupelo Civic Auditorium April 27
The U.S. Air Force's premier jazz ensemble performs free at Tupelo Civic Auditorium on April 27, tracing a lineage back to Major Glenn Miller's World War II dance band.

The Airmen of Note, the premier jazz ensemble of the United States Air Force, will take the stage at the Tupelo Civic Auditorium at 7 p.m. on April 27 for a free public concert spanning big band hits of the 1940s through brand-new compositions.
The 18-member ensemble, comprising 17 active-duty musicians and one vocalist, is stationed at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C., and serves as one of six musical groups that make up the U.S. Air Force Band. The group traces its origins to 1950, when it was created to carry on the tradition of Major Glenn Miller's Army Air Forces dance band, the iconic World War II-era ensemble that became synonymous with the sound of the era.
Admission is free, but organizers ask attendees to register for tickets online in advance. All tickets are general admission; there are no reserved seats.

The Tupelo performance is one stop in a five-show Mississippi run. According to MSgt. Logan Keese with the USAF Band, the tour opens Sunday, April 26, in Senatobia, then moves to Tupelo on April 27 before continuing to the Charlotte Harness Seals performing Arts Center at Germantown High School on April 28. The run concludes Thursday, April 30, in Biloxi.
Registration links for the Tupelo show were available through the Tupelo Civic Auditorium's ticketing pages, though readers should visit the auditorium's website directly to complete registration before the April 27 date.
