Como man jailed on aggravated domestic violence warrant in Lafayette County
A Como resident was jailed after a May 3 domestic call became a felony aggravated-domestic-violence warrant, with a $20,000 bond and Panola County hold.

A Como resident was jailed after Lafayette County deputies turned a May 3 domestic violence call into a felony aggravated-domestic-violence case. Investigators identified Clinton Grice Wilbourn III as the suspect after the victim suffered injuries, then obtained a warrant that Wilbourn answered by turning himself in on May 5. He was booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center.
The case now moves into Lafayette County’s court process, where Justice Court judges can handle bond hearings and preliminary hearings in felony matters. Wilbourn’s bond was set at $20,000, but the booking did not end the matter because he also had an active felony warrant in Panola County and remained on hold awaiting extradition. That means one county’s case can still keep a defendant in custody while another county’s warrant is resolved.
The arrest also fits a pattern Lafayette County law enforcement has already been tracking. The sheriff’s department’s 2023 crime report listed 59 first-offense domestic violence cases and five aggravated domestic violence cases from Jan. 1 through Nov. 30, 2023, and a separate February 2024 domestic violence case involving strangulation resulted in the same $20,000 bond amount. Those numbers show why deputies often treat domestic calls as more than a routine disturbance when injuries are reported.
