Oxford magician turns card tricks into a campus calling card
Christian Dadd built a campus brand out of card tricks, drawing Ole Miss athletes, students and downtown crowds into impromptu shows across Oxford.

Christian Dadd has become a familiar sight in Oxford, the graduate student with a deck of cards who works the sidewalks around the University of Mississippi and the public spaces near The Square. Under the Magic Man of Oxford name, he has turned a hobby into a recognizable part of campus and downtown life, blending student energy, social-media reach and old-fashioned word-of-mouth into a local act people remember.
Dadd is in the master of taxation program at Ole Miss’s Patterson School of Accountancy, a setting that fits the uncommon arc of his profile. He earned a Bachelor of Accountancy in 2025, was named to the Spring 2024 Honor Roll while majoring in accountancy, and later received 2024-25 Who’s Who Among Students recognition at the university. The academic credentials give him a conventional path; the magic brand gives him the visibility that now sets him apart around Oxford.

His performances have caught the attention of Ole Miss athletes including Trinidad Chambliss, Caden Prieskorn and Diego Pounds, folding campus celebrity into the same audience that includes students, passersby and anyone else who stops to watch. That mix is part of why the act works in Oxford. On a campus where visibility spreads quickly and downtown life overlaps with student life, Dadd’s card tricks moved easily from curiosity to calling card.
By April 22, his Instagram account had 5,820 followers, and sororities, fraternities and other groups had already begun booking him for events. Even with that business taking shape, he still performed for free in public spaces, a choice that helped keep the magic spontaneous and accessible. He has said the point is not to save the fun for famous people but to brighten the day of whoever is having a hard time.

That balance, between paid appearances and casual sidewalk performances, has made Dadd more than a magician with a social-media page. He has become a small example of how Oxford produces local personalities who are recognized by name, not just by role. From League City, Texas, he arrived with an accountancy degree and found a niche in a college town that rewards personality, repetition and a talent for turning a quick card trick into a shared moment.
