Oxford student Jayden Maten named to Wartburg College dean’s list

Jayden Maten was named to Wartburg College’s 2026 Winter/May Term Dean’s List, putting an Oxford student on a roster of 507 honorees at the Waverly, Iowa, school. The listing gives Lafayette County another college milestone to follow as Oxford students continue to turn up on honor rolls far from home.

Wartburg College announced the list on June 18, and The Oxford Eagle carried Maten’s recognition in its June 24 education notices. The college said the Dean’s List honors students who earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above in at least five course credits during the Winter/May terms, with four of those five credits graded with a traditional letter grade.

At Wartburg, Winter Term runs from January through April and includes four courses, followed by one course during the one-month May Term. That structure makes the honor a measure of steady academic work across both parts of the spring term, rather than a single-week performance spike.

Maten’s name also landed in the middle of a broader local pattern. The Oxford Eagle reported June 11 that three Oxford students at the University of Arkansas made the spring 2026 Chancellor’s List, and it reported Feb. 5 that five local University of Alabama students earned either the Dean’s List or the President’s List. Together, those notices show Oxford-area students collecting recognition on multiple campuses at once.

Wartburg’s own list size has moved up and down in recent terms, with 570 students named to the fall 2025 Dean’s List, 505 recognized in a Winter/May Term announcement in 2014, and 442 students honored for Winter/May 2024. This year’s total of 507 sits between those figures, while Maten’s place on it keeps Oxford on the map in another round of college academic honors.
