Carjacker Steals Toyota Tacoma at Knifepoint, Caught on Chambers Connector
A Toyota Tacoma stolen at knifepoint on W. 11th Ave. was recovered in 13 minutes after live tracking led Eugene police to the Chambers Connector.

A male suspect was in custody by 12:12 p.m. Wednesday after Eugene Police used a stolen Toyota Tacoma's own live tracking system to run him down on the Chambers Connector, just 13 minutes after the knifepoint theft was reported.
Central Lane 911 received the call at 11:59 a.m. on March 18, when a victim reported their Toyota Tacoma work truck had been taken at knifepoint from the 3600 block of West 11th Avenue in west Eugene. Officers responded to the area and immediately turned to the truck's built-in live tracking to pinpoint its location.
The trail led to the Chambers Connector near the intersection of Chambers Street and River Road, where officers located and forcibly stopped the vehicle. The male suspect was taken into custody at 12:12 p.m., with the entire sequence from first 911 call to arrest spanning just 13 minutes.

While the situation was active, officials diverted traffic from Chambers onto 2nd Avenue and urged motorists to seek alternate routes. KEZI posted a traffic alert advising drivers to avoid the Chambers Connector area entirely during the operation.
No injuries were reported in any of the published accounts, and the method officers used to forcibly stop the truck was not disclosed. Eugene Police Department said more information on the suspect and formal charges will be released when available.
