The Creswell Historical Museum threw open its doors again in early March, kicking off the 2026 season inside one of the oldest surviving structures in town: a building dating to 1889 that holds the distinction of being Creswell's second-oldest.

The museum resumed its regular Saturday schedule on March 7, welcoming visitors from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each week. The updated exhibits trace three interwoven threads of local history: the Native Kalapuya people who lived in this region long before European contact, the early settlers who arrived in the 19th century, and the agricultural expansion that shaped Creswell into the community it became.

Museum member Suzanne Peterson, who has watched the displays grow over time, described the effort her fellow volunteers have put into this season's presentation. "Well, we have a very good display people, and they have turned it into something fantastic, I think ...," Peterson said. "And they keep adding to it. The school part, they've added a lot more about the different teams of the past you know that were good in things ... And we keep finding more things, and it's good."

The school and athletics section Peterson referenced represents one of the more tangible expansions this season, with additional material on past Creswell teams and their accomplishments added to the existing displays. The museum's collection is not static: according to Peterson, the team continues sourcing new material, and the exhibits reflect that ongoing effort.

The 1889 building itself carries its own historical weight. As Creswell's second-oldest standing structure, it provides a fitting home for the stories housed inside, connecting the physical space to the very era the museum documents.

Saturday hours of 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. run throughout the season.
